Judy was born on June 18, 1957, in Lynn, Massachusetts to Edmond and Jean (Murphy) Gautreau. She moved with her family to McAllen, Texas when she was 15. At age 20, she embarked on a road trip to California with a friend and settled in Las Vegas, Nevada (one of the intended stops along the way). She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a short time and eventually returned to Las Vegas. She married Ron Roscoe and had two children: Michael Thomas and Brian James. Judy and Ron have two grandsons: Mason Jonah and Elias Vincent.
As a young girl, Judy spent some great vacations with her parents and siblings in places like Salisbury Beach, Kennebunkport, Maine, Stowe Vermont and a family reunion in McAllen, Texas. When Judy’s children were young, “anyplace’ was a great place to visit with her boys – some of their best vacations were spent in New England, on California beaches and in the mountains of Utah. When it comes to “girlfriend getaways,” Judy’s most memorable trips were riding horseback to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, visiting Temecula wine country and taking an ocean cruise to Vancouver, Canada. Today, Judy’s top vacation spots typically involve a beach: the Del Coronado in San Diego and Maui, Hawaii are two of her favorite places to unwind and soak in the seashore. Her trip in 2017 to the Caribbean with husband, Mike, was definitely one for the books.
Judy’s interests over the years have included physical fitness, baking and antique shopping. Some of her favorite things to do today are spending time with family, taking walks with her husband, working out, cooking, baking homemade pizza, wine tasting and traveling. Her newest fascination is family genealogy. Judy has learned much about her Gautreau roots from her aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her proud Gautreau heritage, Judy recently discovered she is a direct descendant of Pilgrim, George Soule, of the Mayflower on her mother’s side.
Judy’s favorite charities are St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Three Square (a Southern Nevada charitable organization assisting individuals and families at risk of hunger through food banking).
Among Judy’s greatest accomplishments – aside from raising two wonderful sons – are her 30-year career in Human Resources management, attaining her PHR certification (Professional in Human Resources) and completing her bachelor’s degree in her 40s. During her Human Resources career, Judy derived great satisfaction from counseling and advising members of management and the workforce, as well as assisting employees in crisis through partnerships with local charities. Judy also co-authored many policy and training manuals and narrated numerous voiceovers for on-line management training courses.
Judy’s personal motto (besides the Golden Rule) is, "Take the stairs.” Fun fact about Judy: in 2014, she was featured in a corporate article by her employer, Boyd Gaming, after climbing (virtual) Mount Everest at work.
